Some defeats leave deeper scars than others. Saturday's loss for the Paris Musketeers on the road against the Prague Lions undoubtedly falls into that category. After an incredible back-and-forth contest, the French side fell 36-35 in overtime during Week 9 of the European Football Alliance season, handing the Czech franchise a historic victory.

Just over a month after defeating these same Lions 30-9 in the first meeting, Paris appeared to have done the hard part by fighting back from a difficult position. But one final moment of brilliance from former Paris quarterback Jaylon Henderson, brilliantly supported by Matyas Bily, shattered the Musketeers' hopes.

Prague riding a wave of confidence

From the opening kickoff, Prague established the tempo. The Lions controlled possession for more than seven minutes on their opening drive, patiently mixing the running game with short passes. A converted 24-yard third down followed by a successful fourth-down conversion perfectly illustrated the home team's determination. Henderson capped the impressive drive by finding Havelka in the end zone to give Prague a 7-0 lead.

Paris' struggles continued when Zach Edwards lost his first fumble of the game. Although the defense limited the damage to a Marek Hrubon field goal (10-0), a second Edwards fumble only added to the visitors' concerns. Once again, however, the Musketeers' defense managed to hold firm.

Gradually, the Paris offense began to find its rhythm. A key reception by Dosso finally sparked the visitors before Jason Bofunda powered into the end zone to cut the deficit to 10-7. Moments later, Edris Jean Alphonse intercepted Henderson, giving Paris an excellent opportunity to seize momentum. However, a series of costly penalties wiped out the chance, allowing Prague to head into halftime with a six-point advantage after another long-range field goal by Hrubon (13-7).

Paris fights back

The Musketeers returned from halftime looking like a different team. They quickly moved the ball down the field, only to see a mishandled snap bounce off Jason Bofunda's helmet before being recovered by the Czech defense inside Prague's 10-yard line. It proved to be a major turning point.

Prague took full advantage. Remaining faithful to their methodical offensive approach built around consistent gains and short passes, the Lions marched downfield before William Patterson restored a 12-point lead (19-7). Paris later failed on a fourth-down attempt in Prague territory, but its defense continued to keep the team within striking distance.

The game then exploded into life in the fourth quarter. With less than ten minutes remaining, Zach Edwards connected with Hugo Tekedam over the middle, and the receiver raced away for a touchdown that reignited the Musketeers (19-14). A few moments later, following another defensive stop, Edwards finished a rushing touchdown himself to give Paris its first lead of the afternoon (20-19).

Hrubon and Bily break Paris hearts

At that point, momentum appeared to be firmly on the French side—until Henderson engineered another response. With less than two minutes remaining in regulation, he found Matyas Bily for a touchdown to put Prague back in front, 25-20.

Once again, Paris refused to give up. Edwards continued his outstanding second-half performance, connecting first with Nadjem and then with Cheikhou Sow in the end zone before converting the two-point attempt. The Musketeers looked set to claim a crucial victory, leading 28-25.

But there were still a few seconds left.

From beyond 50 yards, Marek Hrubon drilled a spectacular game-tying field goal to send the home crowd into celebration and force overtime at 28-28.

Paris struck first in the extra period. Nicolas Khandar capped a drive powered by the running game, restoring a seven-point advantage for the Musketeers (35-28).

Once again, however, Prague found an answer. Henderson orchestrated one final masterful drive before connecting with Matyas Bily for another touchdown with just eight seconds remaining. The Lions then elected to go for the win rather than settle for another tie. Their two-point conversion was successfully completed by... Bily himself, sealing an unforgettable 36-35 victory for the Czech franchise.

For the Prague Lions, a second consecutive victory confirms the progress they have shown over the past few weeks and validates the growth of a team that struggled for much of the season. For the Paris Musketeers, meanwhile, a third straight defeat further complicates their playoff hopes ahead of next week's home showdown against the Nordic Storm at Stade Essonne.
