WEEK 4 RECAP: The Musketeers are no longer undefeated

An undefeated showdown. That was the headline attraction on another evening of American football at Stade Bauer in Saint-Ouen. The Paris Musketeers, winners of their first two games, faced the Munich Ravens, who had also opened their EFA campaign with two victories. One thing was certain: by the end of the game, only one team would remain unbeaten. Unfortunately for the Paris Musketeers, it was the Munich Ravens who walked away with the win.

An even first half

For one half, the Paris Musketeers believed they could match, or even outperform, their Bavarian counterparts. The Paris defense, dominant throughout the first two weeks of competition, once again delivered a strong performance. They consistently pushed the Munich offense to the limit, forcing them into numerous third-down situations. Despite that pressure, it was Munich who struck first, taking the lead thanks to a touchdown by Malik Stanley.

On the other side of the ball, the Musketeers searched for offensive solutions but struggled to sustain drives for much of the first half. Both teams traded blows, and offensive production slowed considerably. It took a spark from Paris' special teams unit to bring the home side back into the game. On a punt attempt, Munich mishandled the ball, allowing Lokmen Najdem to recover it and return it to the end zone for his first touchdown in a Paris Musketeers uniform.

The game appeared destined to be tied at halftime, but German kicker Daniel Schweiger added three points just before the break, giving Munich a narrow 10–7 advantage heading into the locker room.

The German Wave crashes over Paris

While the first half was closely contested, the second became a long and painful afternoon for the Paris Musketeers.

True to their reputation, the Munich Ravens capitalized on every mistake made by the Paris offense. Quarterback Zach Edwards tried to create opportunities through the air, but on three separate occasions his passes found the hands of German defenders instead of his receivers. Nearly every turnover resulted in points for Munich. The Ravens' aggressive defense also forced multiple fumbles, creating additional scoring opportunities and allowing the visitors to pull away.

In front of their home crowd, the Musketeers were unable to respond. Drive after drive stalled against the German defensive wall. Late in the game, Munich was even able to rest starting quarterback Russell Tabor, who once again delivered a solid performance. The Ravens added a final field goal in the closing seconds to cap off a completely one-sided second half and secure a convincing victory, leaving Paris on the wrong end of a 31-point deficit.

What’s next?

The Paris Musketeers have once again fallen short in their quest for a three-game winning streak to start the season. They will now look to get back on track next week when they host the Tirol Raiders.

The game will once again take place at Stade Bauer, with kickoff scheduled for 6:00 PM. Get your tickets at Ticketmaster.fr. We hope to see you there!
